New Projects

//Here is my latest project I have been toying with. Its' a new year, it's time to get busy with new designs! Hopefully you can tell this is a scarf. I am working on what patterns I will be using, whether it be a chevron, just straight garter stitching, etc. I love color, so I am trying to take a leap of faith, jump in and start working with it.

And then the yarns/colors I am looking at. These are all a worsted/bulky weight, 100% wool consisting of from left to right:  Berroco's Peruvia in the greens (#7125 and #7122) and blue (#6003), Cascade Yarns Pastaza in the colorway "Poppy", and Plymouth Yarn's Galway in a cream (#1).

And speaking of other new projects ....

//I will be traveling to Tuscany, Italy in May. I am so excited to say the least! This will be my first trip to Europe, and I just had to share the news with you. I have already researched yarn shops in Florence (which is where I will be flying into and staying) and plan on visiting those and bringing back some souvenirs! I am going with a friend, we are planning on taking day trips into the Tuscan countryside to hopefully see scenes like the one above. If anyone out there has any tips/yarn shops to visit, please let me know.

Mood Board Monday Madness

This photo was the color inspiration for a swatch I knit recently and the inspiration for the following mood board.

Here is my progress so far on the "Brett" hat.

Can you tell I love the color orange or just color in general? Color excites me and motivates me much more than neutral hues although there are times when I really like to delve into ecrus, creams, and browns. It can be a nice change.

On a personal note, not to get too morbid or anything, I know how hard the holidays can be sometimes especially if you have lost a loved one. I'm feeling it along with the rest of you. Hang in there, go outside for a walk, give someone a hug, or just get your knitting out or craft of choice and get lost in making something. It will help, I promise.

Any big plans for the holidays? I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Bulky Knitting

I am fascinated with bulky knitting. I guess I just love the big texture that is so out there and so interesting. I am seeing it a lot these days it seems - in furniture, accessories, etc.

These stools from here are so fun! They are very organic looking, very tactile.

Love these blankets, I just want to wrap myself up in them and the color!

I am dying to get this natural organic merino bulky wool I bought recently at the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival onto my needles for a swatch. The great thing about bulky knitting is it goes fast. You can get whatever project you are working on done in no time.

Let me know what you are making in a bulky yarn. It is almost Fall afterall. Send me some pictures, I would love to see what you all are doing out there!
